Dear Kageno friends and supporters,
Thank you for joining us this evening to celebrate the communities we serve and the strides we’ve made as an organization to transform impoverished communities into places of opportunity and hope.
Our theme this evening, Be the Change, comes from a quote attributed to Gandhi: be the change you wish to see in the world. Kageno is deeply committed to the quote’s intent: Change starts with ourselves; if we want a better world—let us make it so.
Kageno has built community centers, schools, and clinics; it feeds school children and educates farmers; it has transformed communities because many people chose to be the change. Because many people chose to contribute their labor, their wisdom, and their resources—knowing that their contributions would make life better for another. Tonight we celebrate what we’ve accomplished and look ahead to what more change we can take on.
Tonight, we also honor one of our most generous supporters: Table for Two. This organization exemplifies what is possible when people commit themselves to a cause. Dan Goldstein, Masa Kogure, and their colleagues have, through vision, passion, and extraordinary hard work, built an innovative non-profit that contributes both to the world of the hungry and the world of the comfortably-fed. Table for Two provides an inspiring example of what can be done by people from any walk of life, who chose to be the change.
Each of us here this evening, is an agent for change, whether by our labor, our resources, or our hearts. On behalf of the entire Kageno Board and the Event Planning Committee, I would like to thank the generous individuals and companies who have made tonight possible. It is only through your help that we are able to transform the lives of thousands of people each year. With your generous donations and support, we are able to provide compassionate and comprehensive programs’ to the people living in the communities we serve.
Have fun, and enjoy this year’s Harambee!
With gratitude,
Frank Andolino
